Liv Boeree Leaps Across The Cereus Network

Officially unofficial, Liv Boeree wore the Ultimate Bet Logo at the WSOP and that should have been the first clue that she was leaving Absolute Poker to become part of the Ultimate Bet Poker team; unless she was pulling off a massive bluff at the biggest poker tournament in the world.  Not so, no bluff, she has officially moved over to be part of UltimateBet Team UB with Annie Duke and Phil Hellmuth.

About her move, Liv said, "“It’s an honor to play with the two people who helped launch my poker career. Annie and Phil are two of my favorite players so to sit on the same team as them is a bit of a surreal experience but one I’m definitely proud of.”

In 2005 Liv started her poker career and picked up some valuable poker tips from poker pro Annie Duke when Liv appeared on the television series UltimatePoker.com Showdown in August of that year.  It may be hard to believe, especially after watching all of Phil Hellmuth's antics on Youtube, Poker After Dark, ESPN, and many other televised poker events, but during the Showdown series, it's said that Boeree actually earned the respect of Hellmuth.  Phil has a tendency to make one believe the only poker player he respects is Phil.

Liv's first few years of poker found her placing in the top 10 in Texas Holdem tournaments across London and she took top honors in the Ladbrokes European Ladies Championship in May 2008.  Boeree's most recent poker tournament accomplishments were at the WPT Championship in April of 2009 where she finished 37th in the main event and made the final table of two side events.

Liv is a multifaceted study of underlying levels of competition and intelligence bundled into a very active, attractive woman that happens to play poker very well.  She graduated with a degree in astrophysics, has ridden horses competitively, played sports, and likes to rumble—she beat Melissa Castello in a boxing match sponsored by PokerBattle, UltimateBet, and PokerNews.com during the WSOP for Charity.

You may have known Liv as a writer, interviewer, and TV presenter on a variety of poker broadcasts, a few of which include Ladies’ World Poker Open and the WSOPE, but you’ll know her now as a member of UltimateBet Team UB and be careful if you see her start lacing up the gloves.
